Developed in South Wales in response to the primary RE curriculum, Easter Cracked is a multi-media event designed to examine why Easter is so important to Christians.

The two hour interactive lesson held in local churches includes quizzes, drama, film-clips, music, re-enactment of communion, commercial and Christian comparisons and a work booklet for each pupil.

What the pupils said: “I wouldn’t change anything.  It was brilliant!  I’m going to tell my mum why Easter is so important – that Jesus came back to life!” (Year 5 Pupil, South Wales Primary School)

What the schools said: “Easter Cracked is a super idea.  It’s visual, it’s very high impact, and I think the children will remember a lot of it. Meeting the characters that were there, certainly gives them a better insight into Easter. .. The children thoroughly enjoy it!” (RE Co-ordinator, South Wales Primary School)

What the churches said: “I have been involved with many different types of courses over a period of time, but this one is very much top drawer in all aspects.   It was a delight to help with running it.” (Church leader, Caerphilly, South Wales)

Each year the number of Churches delivering Easter Cracked grows.  This year nearly 1,000 pupils experienced Easter Cracked in Swansea, Cardiff, Pontyclun, Caerphilly and the Vale of Glamorgan.  CCSW & Scripture Union are keen to enable more Churches to deliver Easter Cracked right across Wales.  Full training is provided for teams, along with a detailed handbook containing scripts, guidelines, sample invites, etc.  In short, everything needed to deliver Easter Cracked is provided.
